In 2017, PLA received funding from the to launch a new initiative, . PLA partnered with the French company to bring their Short Story Dispenser and digital content creation platform to a pilot group of select U.S. public libraries. In this webinar, participants will hear how pilot libraries are leveraging the dispensers to strengthen and develop new local programming and connections with library and/or community partner programs and services, as well as creating new interest in literacy and literature through innovative access to a growing collection of more than 100,000 short stories.

 

Learning Outcomes

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Start a similar project, including steps for project administrators, marketing/communications, increasing local engagement, and budgeting;
  • Identify potential partnerships with local organizations with broad community reach in order to build awareness of and increase engagement with library services and collections; and
  • Understand the value of adding local content to their collections, and the opportunity it provides to collaborate with local authors, and curate and highlight content that patrons will enjoy.
