Thursday, March 28: As a surface low pressure system strengthens over the northern Rockies, moderate southwesterly winds during the day will become southerly in the evening. These winds will carry smoke from potential fires across the eastern and south-central Flint Hills into Topeka and Kansas City during the day, with smoke from potential fires in the northern Flint Hills potentially impacting Omaha during the late evening and overnight hours. In addition, smoke from potential fires in the southwestern Flint Hills will impact Wichita.

Friday, March 29: Moderate and gusty southerly winds will carry smoke from potential fires across the eastern Flint Hills into Topeka and Kansas City during the day. In addition, smoke from potential fires in the northern Flint Hills will impact Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska, ahead of an approaching cold front, while smoke from potenial fires in the southwestern Flint Hills impacts Wichita. As the cold front moves into the northern Flint Hills during the evening, winds will shift to southwesterly, transporting smoke from potential fires in the central and eastern Flint Hills into Topeka and Kansas City, with improving conditions for Lincoln and Omaha.
