Job Description
The Division Head of Communications is focused on building and executing a strong internal and external communications strategy in support of our North American beverage brands, Division business and executive leadership team. Working in partnership with the Sector communications team, the primary focus of this role will be to develop and execute fully integrated internal and external communications programs that dovetail with business strategy and initiatives, and are in keeping PepsiCo’s overarching corporate strategy. Strategic direction must be coupled with the ability to garner positive media coverage and create excitement, buzz, word-of- mouth and engagement among internal and external audiences. The role must also serve as a first line of defense in dealing with issues that arise within the Division geography. This role is both proactive and reactive and will focus on:
creating, promoting and maintaining effective employee engagement programs that helps architect a distinctive Division culture and builds morale from day one
incubating community relations initiatives that ingratiates PBNA Division in the communities in which it operates;
helping to maintain, advance and promote partnerships, and customer and bottler relationships
crafting and executing executive visibility and thought leadership agenda for Division President and Division leadership teams, as appropriate
establishing, populating and maintaining Division communications channels
working in a seamless integrated manner with Sector colleagues, particularly on brand communications and PBNA corporate communications
serving as first point of contact on Division specific issue management and stakeholder engagement
Qualifications/Requirements
Approximately 10-12 years of experience in a dynamic news-making consumer products environment. Experience in core lifestyle, food & beverage, technology, crisis communications and government and community affairs a plus.
Outstanding public and community relations skills, including the experience and confidence to drive coverage, conversation, engagement and relevance
Strong story-telling skills a must, with the ability to build a narrative, identity and programs around a business and its leaders
Solid experience using digital and social media as a lead element, and as an integrated element, throughout function outputs
Experience in content creation & social and digital channel management
Desire and fearlessness to utilize non-traditional, out of the box thinking and approach to craft impactful employee engagement initiatives
A entrepreneurial mindset
Excellent writing skills, particularly under tight deadlines and through a consumer, partner and employee consumption lens
Great judgment, empathy, perception and ability to ascertain a situation quickly and effectively
Grace under pressure and a comfort level in dealing with senior executives in intense situations
A deep awareness of the challenges facing global food and beverage companies
Flexibility and open-mindedness to changes in direction and the addition of new assignments
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university
Regional travel required
