Westlake Academy Distance Learning Plan:
Westlake Academy’s Distance Learning Plan describes how we will ensure that learning continues in the event of a full school closure. The objective is for the school to continue to provide an internationally minded education of the highest quality for students in both the short-term and long-term. Westlake Academy’s Distance Learning Plan addresses: the channels we will use for communication; the technology systems we will employ by programme; guidelines for how parents/guardians can support their children’s learning; and considerations tailored to make the best of challenging circumstances. The success of our Distance Learning Plan is a two way partnership that is dependent on careful planning by our dedicated faculty, student engagement, and parental support.
Distance Learning Can Be Defined As:
Westlake Academy purposefully uses the term ”distance learning” rather than technology-specific language such as “virtual learning,” “e-learning,” or “online classes.” This choice reflects our conviction that quality learning can occur at a distance without solely relying on computers. Westlake Academy’s goal is for students to continue a balanced education through reading, communicating, and physical activity while engaging in authentic learning experiences.
All guidelines and expectations communicated in the Student-Parent Handbook 2019-2020 apply during the Distance Learning period. Please refer to those here:
