PLANO (WBAP/KLIF) – The Collin County Sheriff’s office said Thursday it has concerns about the safety of State Representative Jeff Leach of Plano.
Rep. Leach chairs the state committee hearing testimony about a bill that would criminalize women who have abortions. He said this week he doesn’t support it and that the bill wouldn’t get through the committee.
“My commitment to advancing the pro-life cause is stronger than ever,” said Leach. “And that’s why I cannot in good conscience support House Bill 896-legislation that subjects women who undergo abortions to criminal liability and even the possibility of the death penalty.”
Some supporters of the bill apparently directed frustrations at Leach on social media, prompting authorities to take what they’re calling “appropriate safety measures.”
It’s unclear if Leach or his family was directly threatened.
