PLANO (1080 KRLD) - The city of Plano has shut down a major intersection for emergency repairs to a water main.

City officials say the intersection of Ohio Drive and Rasor Boulevard will be closed until further notice.

Plano says a water main has started leaking beneath the intersection south of 121. The city says the water main is beneath a seven foot storm sewer in the center of the intersection.

Construction is scheduled to start Monday, and the entire intersection will stay closed until work is completed. Traffic from each direction of Ohio Drive and Rasor Boulevard will be ordered to turn right at the intersection.

Plano is urging drivers to find an alternate route to avoid the intersection, saying it is aware "this is a frequently-used intersection."

The city does not have a timetable for repairs to be completed.
