About us
Established in 1996, The National Alliance for Caregiving is a non-profit coalition of national organizations focusing on issues of family caregiving. The Alliance was created to conduct research, do policy analysis, develop national programs, increase public awareness of family caregiving issues, work to strengthen state and local caregiving coalitions, and represent the US caregiving community internationally. Recognizing that family caregivers provide important societal and financial contributions toward maintaining the well-being of those they care for, the Alliance’s mission is to be the objective national resource on family caregiving with the goal of improving the quality of life for families and care recipients.

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms out there who provide care to their families, friends, and loved ones! Check out this special message from our President & CEO Jason Resendez about the incredible impact his mom has had on his journey as a care advocate. #MothersDay #caregiving
Like many, my journey into caregiving began with my mom. She raised three kids, worked full-time, and cared for my grandmother, who faced multiple chronic conditions - a common scenario in Latino households across the US. We didn’t know it then, but she was one of America’s 11 million sandwich caregivers, navigating broken care systems at every turn. She battled Meciaid eligibility requirements, insurance denials, hospital billing practices, drug accessibility, and more. In the face of it all, she was resilient, determined, and fully loving. I’m immensely grateful for her example and for the strength she passed on to me. I carry it with me every day as I raise my son and in the movement to build a more caring future for moms and family caregivers like her. Happy Mother’s Day, mom! #mothersday #caregiving #medicaid #healthcare #moms

Did you know? An estimated 5.4 million children in the U.S. are caregivers. These young people provide crucial support to family members, but often face challenges like missing school, social isolation, and taking on adult responsibilities at a young age. Our Caregiving in the U.S. research (done in partnership with AARP) was featured in a The Wall Street Journal article by Ansberry Clare. The piece explores the impact of caregiving on young people. We're dedicated to leveraging our data to shift the narrative on care and build support for family caregivers. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dmnZVz-q

The article highlights key developments such as: ✅ Increased access to caregiver training services through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ✅ Medicare's introduction of the GUIDE model to support people living with dementia and their caregivers ✅ The Administration for Community Living's $20 million investment in the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers According to Terry and Jason, this is just the beginning of the transformation needed to support the health and wellness of family caregivers. There is so much more Medicare can do to advance our National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers.
