Naada Daanam

Naada Daanam, which translates to “giving through music,” is an initiative directed by guru Subha Ramanan and organized by local high school students who have been learning Carnatic music under her guidance since elementary school. Carnatic music is a form of Indian classical music.

Naada Daanam encourages young musicians to contribute positively to society through their music education. The event is sponsored by the Indian Cultural Heritage Foundation, a 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit organization.

This year’s Naada Daanam event raised more than $20,000 and has raised $50,000 over the last three years for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital which gives free treatment to children suffering from cancer and other pediatric diseases. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event goes to the hospital.

It featured more than 175 young classical musicians from DFW, with Dr. Gayatri Seshadri, a senior veena artist and renowned musician from Dallas, presiding as an honored guest.

The check to St. Jude was presented alongside guests of honor Dr. Jay Dowling from University of Texas at Dallas, St. Jude representative Ms. Zainab Hameed and Texas State Representative Mattt Shaheen.
