Resources are plentiful in the gun world.  Here's a few to get you started. 

Places to Shoot

Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center   

Grandma and I used to work there back in the day. It's a great facility.  Three 50 yard and one 100 yard range all indoors.  It's used by Wake County Sheriff's Department during the week but it's open to the public Friday through Monday.  Now being run by NC Wildlife it's safe and it's FREE!

 

Wldlife Resources Statewide Range Map      

This is an excellent resource showing public, private and Wildlife Resources ranges in the state .  Each spot has a hover that has phone numbers, addresses, hours and facilities listed.  A really good bookmark for any shooter.

The Best Defense  (TV Series)  This show on the Outdoor Channel is an excellent overview of defensive techniques and situational awareness.Get used to saying "I never thought of that".  

Handguns and Defensive Weapons (TV Series)

 

This show, produced by Guns and Ammo magazine emphasizes the differences between models and styles of guns.

Bearing Arms Cam and Company   (Podcast) 

 

Cam Edwards is a long-time commentator on all things firearms.  His focus is largely on gun rights and  he knows his subject inside and out.

GunTalk.tv  (Video and Podcast)  

 

Tom Gresham is a respected elder of the firearms community.  I suspect he's forgotten more than most of us will ever known.  Along with his son Ryan he covers virtually everything youu need to know about the shooting sports.  GunTalk is an excellent resource. 

TheTruthAboutGuns.com  (Blog)

 

Updated several times a day, TTAG is a must check several times a day.  Their "Guns for Beginners" series is a great place to learn about your new avocation.
