Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority/TIRZ5 Applies for BUILD Grant

Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority (MHRA/TIRZ 5) hopes to reconstruct Shepherd and Durham from 6th street to I-610. The total cost of this project is expected to be approximately $100,000,000 and the increment received by the MHRA/TIRZ 5 is not sufficient to fund the entire project so MHRA/TIRZ 5 has been looking for grant opportunities. In July, MHRA/TIRZ 5 applied for a $25,000,000 Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development, (BUILD)Transportation Discretionary Grant program. This federal grant provides funds to invest in road, rail, transit and port projects. The BUILD grant was previously known as Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery, or TIGER Discretionary Grants. Since 2009, the Program has provided $7.1 billion to 554 projects. These grant funds will be matched with $25,000,000 of local funds by the TIRZ build phase 1 of the project which will reconstruct Shepherd and Durham from approximately 15th street to I-610. Here is a link to the project narrative. If you have questions or would like more information please feel free to contact us.
