The prime minister will meet with representatives of the clergy on Friday. Insights on the future of day-to-day church life will be presented on 25 May.

At this point, it remains unclear whether the annual Pentecost masses will be conducted. Prime Minister Bettel had been heavily criticised by Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich during the "Oktav-Mass". Bettel has now reacted:

"I do care about church, otherwise I would have left them alone without imposing any rules", Bettel stated. According to the prime minister, it is of upmost importance to find a common yet respectful solution for all practicing religions, without neglecting the health of people.

No decision on future masses will be taken before 25 May, Bettel further explained. The government is still evaluating the first phases of the lockdown strategy.
