Luxembourg City's traditional street market will take place as scheduled on 31 August. A variety of measures have been put into place in regard to the ongoing struggle against the coronavirus.

While many classic summer activities were outright canceled, others had to adjust their organisation.

After street animations and mini fairs to replace the Schueberfouer, it is now the capital's traditional street market that has to adapt its concept to the pandemic.

The first measure which will affect everyone: It will be mandatory to wear a face mask, both for the employees of the shops and for visitors. Merchants participating in the "Stater Braderie" will also have to ensure that sanitary measures are respected within their establishments.

The sale of alcoholic beverages in the public space will be prohibited on Monday, 31 August and food stands will not be authorised in shopping streets. However, merchants will be able to offer food to-go within the area of the "food village" on Place Guillaume II and Rue Origer.

While previous editions of the street market also allowed shops located outside of Luxembourg City to rent spaces, the 2020 edition will be limited to shops located in the capital itself.

A number of streets will be closed to traffic to ensure a smooth running of the street market: Rue Origer as well as Avenue de la Liberté on the section between Place de Paris and Place de la Gare (diversions will be set up).
