Passengers from Luxembourg are required to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in UK due to an increased number of cases of coronavirus, according to an update provided by Luxembourg's foreign ministry.
Travellers with a negative corona test are not exempt from the quarantine rule.
The public health measures will come into force at midnight on Thursday 30 July and will mean those arriving in the UK from Luxembourg will be required to quarantine for 14 days.
Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf said:
"This decision is based on the latest available data from the Joint Biosecruity Centre and it gives another clear indication that the virus is active and still spreading. We have always maintained that we are closely monitoring the pandemic situation in all countries and we will impose quarantine requirements as necessary in a bid to protect the public.
"This virus is showing a resurgence in areas and it should not be forgotten how deadly it remains. Our priority to is suppress the virus, prevent it from being transmitted and protecting public health."
Earlier today Luxembourg's Minister of Health Paulette Lenert expressed disappointment for the international press coverage on Luxembourg, with one paper calling it a "European hot spot".
