Description

Agents of Discovery is an augmented reality app that gets you active and engaged in learning about the world around you. With Agents of Discovery, you become a top-secret Agent, dedicated to solving mysteries about science, culture, technology, history, nature and much more... Download the app and the Mission you want to play BEFORE heading out. Once these have been downloaded, the app does not require any data or WiFi to run.

There are Missions to play outside in Canada, the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand. Check out our list of current sites here: https://agentsofdiscovery.com/play/missions/

Can’t find one near you? Fear not! Agents of Discovery has partnered with Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife Foundation to bring you Mission Conservation — a series of play-at-home Missions and livestreams. Head over to the Mission Conservation page for more information: https://wondersofwildlife.org/mission-conservation/

Let’s get the jargon out of the way:

Missions are games or scavenger hunts, made up of Challenges. Each Mission has a map of its location and a Field Agent to guide you.

Challenges are questions or games. There are a variety of Challenge types: AR Picker, Image 50/50, AR Catch, AR Sorter, and Sound Matcher, to name a few. Once you have completed all the Challenges in your Mission, you’ll unlock a reward!

What is a petroglyph? How much water goes over Niagara Falls? Why does the moon change shape? Who was Martin Luther King Jr.? Why are bees so important? How do you prevent wildfires? How do you change the world? We’ll help you answer all these questions and more!

What’s New

Version 5.5.2

- Improved AR Sorter/Sequencer challenges
- Added new controls for AR Catch challenge
- Fixed minor bug in Detective challenge

Agents on Hiawatha National Forest

This educational, place-based app is brand new to Hiawatha National Forest but has thus far been an amazing tool to bring students and families out to connect with the many faces of the Forest. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is to bring attention to the fact that these “Missions” are not set-it and forget-it; we have seen far more success with having staff on site to help guide and expand upon lessons.

Overall a fantastic teaching tool, great work Agents of Discovery!

Needs closer locations

1- there’s nothing wrong with the app, my daughters love it, but the closest location is nearly three hours away. There’s two state forests a National Forest and too many large state parks just minutes from my back door that have nothing for the app
2- there should be a map feature to choose from as well as the scroll down list that the app presently uses.
3- a location, even a general one, would be nice. About 90 percent of these places I’ve never heard of- who knew there was a nature center outside of Pittsburgh? Not this one and I’m an outdoor writer!

Agents in Tucson, AZ

I played this game with my daughter and her friends at Mission Garden in Tucson, AZ and they loved it! They are in 5th grade and found the game easy to understand and the challenge questions fun to find and answer. My daughter literally exclaimed, “This is so fun, I love this!”

I even saw a high school student playing while we were there and loving the “scavenger hunt” nature of the game. It’s clearly fun for all ages! It is extremely satisfying to see kids get excited about being outside and learning about nature.

Developer Response ,

That’s great to hear, Cori! We’ll be sure to let our friends at Mission Garden know about the fun your daughter and her friends had completing that Mission.

You can see all the nearby Missions we offer and look for new ones to try at our Missions page (www.agentsofdiscovery.com/play/missions/). Thank you for your review!
