for Elementary School Students

No and Low Cost Programs

Free Online/Offline Summer 2020 (Cambridge Department of Human Service Programs): Free programming for K-8th graders to engage with 1 hour of virtual small group sessions daily as well as access to a weekly schedule of virtual and in-person activities, including outdoor physical activity. Registration link will be available on this webpage beginning Monday, June 22nd.

Summer Reading 2020:  Read, explore, and learn with the Cambridge Public Library this summer!  Choose the activities you want to try and collect as many badges as you can throughout the summer. In addition, there are virtual programs and events for kids and families almost every day.  All ages and abilities welcome. Registration begins Monday, June 22. 

Parkour Generations Boston: Online calendar of kids and adults classes, with daily community strength training, suggested $10 for drop-ins, free plus benefits for members.

Brooklyn Boulders: Virtual kids academy classes to work on fitness, strength and mobility, no charge.

Cambridge Youth Enrichment Program (CYEP): Only a few spots left for 3rd graders! Offering academic enrichment in Cambridge. Camp will run from Monday July 6th through Friday, August 7th. CYEP will offer 2-3 hours per day of online workshops and one on one mentoring and tutoring.  Staff will send home a summer activity kit with materials for art, STEM, and physical movement. Tutoring Plus Virtual Summer Program: Offering practical applications of math, creative writing, science experiments, and discussions about current events and more. For Ages 9-14.

Spring Forward Interactive Online Climate Workshops: Offering free online interactive workshops and activities for ages 6 to 12 on climate change and climate justice. (4-5pm on June 24, July 8, August 5 and August 8)

Camp Fiction: (5th graders only)A six-week virtual writing course for kids and teens ages 10-15 from a 2020 CRLS graduate, published writer and poet. Young writers will have the goal of completing the summer with fully-developed short stories. Camp happens twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursdays between July 7th – August 13th .  Just $10 per class!

Camps/Programs for a Fee

Beyond the 4th Wall: Offering  3 weeks of camp for 7-11 year olds July 6-10, July 20-24 and Aug 3-7. Classes in acting, broadway dance, play writing, improv, puppetry, yoga, set design and more.  There is also  a camp for 5-6 year olds July 20-24 with dancing, acting, creating, moving and FUN.

Kesher Virtual Summer Camp: Offering weekly virtual classes that integrate active learning experiences - in cooking, art, music, and more - with learning Hebrew language and Jewish culture for ages 5-12.

Summer @ BB&N Virtual Camp: Classic Camp (full or half day, $300/$17) happening every week starting June 22nd for pre-K through 7th graders. Specialty camps (half day, $300) for older kids also available in chess, soccer skills, animation, mastermind adventures and more. Scholarships may still be available for CPS students.

Summer @ BB&N Virtual Enrichment & Activities:  Remote learning programs for new and returning families, includes academic enrichment, activity programs, and health & wellness programs. Ages 4-18, $40 per one week of activity courses, $100 per week of enrichment courses, 10 weeks from 6/19 — 8/21

Summer Arts at Fayerweather:, Campers choose four daily classes from a long list of their multi-arts curriculum offerings for K-5th and 6-8th graders. 2 week sessions for 200/each session.

Parts and Crafts:  Registration is by one week slots (ex. Girls Invention Week, Music and Mechanisms, Imaginary Worlds and more). Participants usually register in one week sessions 6/22-8/24. Cost: $375 sliding scale

Boston Mobile Dance Studio: Virtual dance classes (classes change daily; usually $15 fee to join) and a virtual dance party Saturday nights. Check BMDS facebook page for up to date info.

Club Z Tutoring: 1:1 tutoring for ages 8-18 in Study Skills, SAT/ACT Prep, Math, English Language Arts or Singapore Math.

iD Tech Virtual Courses: Weeklong courses for all age groups in Scratch, Minecraft, Roblox, Coding for Video Games, YouTube storytelling, and Machine Learning, $399

Digital Media Academy: Courses for each age group in tech skills like App Design, Scratch Coding, 3D Modeling and Mobile Journalism. $399 for each course, which entails about 15 hours of lessons.

Empow STEM Camps: One week virtual sessions on tech and design, robotics, coding and video game design offered all summer, half day $299/wk, full day $499/week with sliding scale financial aid available.

KIDS 4 CODING | Virtual Tech Camps:Offers weekly classes in Coding, Game Development, Machine Learning, Python and more. (Grades 2-6)

The Cambridge Math Circle: Offering online opportunities for 2nd-7th graders to do logic puzzles, learn problem solving techniques, board games, and much more math. Mon-Wed-Fri Class  and Tues-Thurs Classes

Harvard Museums| Virtual Science Weeks: Offers weekly 1-hour sessions for 1-4 grade students in themed weeks on space, earth science, and more.

East End House Summer Program: Our summer program engages children in enriching activities that will help them reach their academic and social potential. This School-Age, in-person program serves ages 5-11 from July 6th — August 28th, from 7:30am — 5:30pm on weekdays and includes breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.

Margaret Fuller Peace Academy:  Our in-person summer programming will have students conduct science experiments, play games outside, and much more!

This program serves ages 4 years and 10 months to 12 years old, July 6th — August 28th through morning (8:00am-12:00pm) and afternoon (1:30pm-5:30pm) sessions.

Olympia Fencing Summer Camp: - Our fencing summer camp for beginners makes learning fencing fun and enjoyable, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, for kids ages 8-12 of all athletic levels and body types. Camp runs July 6-10 from 9:00am — 3:00pm for $100/day (minimum of 3-day signup required).

Parkour and Climbing Adventure Weeks: 4 sessions of one-week camps in August at Brooklyn Boulders in Somerville that combine Parkour and climbing into a full day for ages 6-13. CIT possibility for 13+, can pay by day or by week with generous scholarships available through Parkour Generations.

Summer Learn to Row: Running a Learn to Scull program and a Summer Skills program, 2 hours/day for 2 weeks.

Summer Stage at Central Square Theater: 5 different one week camps focused on performance (Journey Around the World, Acting Funny,  Creating Characters, Brave the Bard and Modern Mythmaking) for $375 each week. Check to see if this program is in person or virtual.

Empow STEM Camp at Cambridge Montessori: 1 week sessions throughout August of in-person camp with safety procedures, full day ($665) or half day ($385) in tech and design, robotics, coding and video game design. Can shift to virtual format as well (doing both), sliding scale financial aid available.
