New traffic signals are going up along Congress Avenue in Boynton Beach.

The Flashing Yellow Arrow is a new traffic signal that means you can turn left if there is a safe gap in traffic.

Palm Beach County will be activating the new left turn signal at eight intersections along Congress Avenue between Golf Road and Gateway Boulevard.

The county says it picked this stretch of road because the area sees a high volume of traffic and pedestrian flow and the county thinks it will help keep everyone safe.

These first eight intersections will be a test run to help fine tune the criteria the county uses to determine how, where and when more arrows would go up in the future.

Although the flashing yellow arrow traffic signal has been used nationwide for over 10 years, including more than 100 locations in Florida, the signal is new to Palm Beach County.

Just last month, Martin County installed the signals at some of the county’s most dangerous intersections.

The signals will start being installed along Congress Avenue on Saturday, November 16, but it will be a few weeks before they’re all up and running.
