Minnesota's workforce system is now CareerForce. This change is part of a major transition for Minnesota’s entire workforce system, bringing multiple partners under a single unified CareerForce brand. Unifying all elements of Minnesota’s workforce system will increase efficiency, improve communication and enhance collaboration between CareerForce staff and partners. This will enhance customer service and improve outcomes for career seekers, employers, communities and all of Minnesota.

CareerForce week is April 15 - 19th.

Minneapolis Employment and Training Hosts Two Conferences

Adult Services Conference Scheduled for April 25th 

Minneapolis Conference

The Adult Services Conference is scheduled for April 25, 2019 at the Minneapolis Central Library.  This event is for employment/career counselors who work with low income adults or dislocated workers.  The keynote speaker is Dr Abdul Omari who will discuss "Exploring your Personal Headlines". 


 

Partners conference

Youth Conference on February 15th

The Minneapolis Youth Coordinating Board, the City of Minneapolis and Minneapolis College hosted the annual PARTNERS with Youth Conference February 15, 2019 from 9am-2:30pm at Minneapolis College (previously MCTC).  This event was focused on Youth Work Professionals and Youth who were available on a school release day for Minneapolis Public Schools students.

State of Minnesota adds 3,800 jobs in January - unemployment ticks up to 3 percent

The Minnesota Employment Review, published by the DEED LMI Office, examines labor market conditions and key economic indicators statewide.

Earnings Gaps  For the most part, earning a degree leads to a higher income. However, even after accounting for field of study and choice of occupation, yawning gender and race/ethnicity-based earnings gaps exist.

Twin Cities Metro area is experiencing very tight labor market conditions. In the second quarter of 2018, Metro Area employers reported more than 82,000 job vacancies, the highest number ever posted.

Lack of child care is a significant barrier to workforce participation that can negatively affect job and wealth creation, business expansion and retention, and new business location. Governor Walz is recommending $1 million over the biennium for the Child Care Economic Development Grant program to help communities increase the supply of child care and to support increased workforce participation.
