Data Summary:
CMAQv5.3+ input data for a 07/01/2016 - 07/14/2016 simulation over the Southeast US. Note:The datasets are on a Google Drive. The metadata associated with this DOI contain the link to the Google Drive folder and instructions for downloading the data.
File Location and Download Instructions:
CMAQv5.3 Inputs
The compressed file CMAQv5.3_Benchmark_2Week_Input.tar.gz on Google Drive contains inputs for a 14 day CMAQ simulation (July 1 - 14, 2016). The text file, CMAQv5.3_Benchmark_2Week_Input.file.list.txt, provides a list of all of the files in the .tar.gz file. This Google Drive folder also contains a "2Day" version of this files which includes inputs for July 1-2, 2016. While the 2 week test case is recommended for testing and benchmarking, the "2Day" version is smaller and faster to download.
CMAQv5.3.1 Inputs
CMAQv5.3.1 comes with new input and output benchmark data for July 2016 over the Southeast US. The input datasets are identical to those released with v5.3 but additional files are now included in the .tar.gz files that will allow users to test the WRFv4.1.1-CMAQv5.3 coupled model on the Southeast benchmark domain. As a result, there is no need for users who have already downloaded the v5.3 Southeast benchmark input data to download the v5.3.1 files unless they are planning to run the coupled model. The Southeast benchmark output data for v5.3.1 is slightly different from what was released with v5.3 as described in the
CMAQv5.3.1 Release Notes FAQ.
CMAQv5.3.2 Inputs
CMAQv5.3.2 comes with new input and output benchmark data for 2 days, July 1-2, 2016, over the Southeast US. The input datasets for these two days are identical to those released with v5.3.1 except for the addition of a grid mask file for the United States:
GRIDMASK_STATES_12SE1.nc. As a result, there is no need for users who have already downloaded the v5.3.1 Southeast benchmark input data to download the v5.3.2 files unless they need the grid mask file for running the new
ISAM test case or to test out emissions scaling with
DESID. The Southeast benchmark output data for v5.3.2 is slightly different from what was released with v5.3 as described in the
CMAQv5.3.2 Release Notes FAQ.
CMAQv5.3.3 Inputs
For CMAQv5.3.3 there is no new input benchmark data. Users can use the benchmark input released with v5.3.2 (or v5.3, or v5.3.1) for testing their CMAQv5.3.3 and CMAQv5.3.3-ISAM builds.
File Format:
The 2016 model input are stored as netcdf formatted files using I/O API data structures
(https://www.cmascenter.org/ioapi/). Information on the model projection and grid structure is contained in the header information of the netcdf file. The output files can be opened and manipulated using I/O API utilities (e.g. M3XTRACT, M3WNDW) or other software programs that can read and write netcdf formatted files (e.g. Fortran, R, Python).
