PHOENIX — A hotel will be arriving at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

The city of Phoenix will begin soliciting companies for a property on the corner of Buckeye Road and 24th Street during the first quarter of 2020, city spokeswoman Krishna Patel told KTAR News 92.3 FM in an email on Thursday.

The hotel will be part of a future airport transportation center and will be adjacent to a future PHX Sky Train terminal.

Once the city picks a vendor to build, manage and operate the hotel, there will be a more clear timeline on when it will break ground and expect to open, according to Patel.

“Sky Harbor is regularly asked about meeting spaces and accommodations on airport property, something business and leisure travelers take advantage of around the world,” Patel said.

“As the second phase of the PHX Sky Train reaches completion, and airline passenger demand continues to grow, it will be a tremendous customer service to have a hotel option on airport property.”

The proposed location for the hotel is about 2.5 miles from Terminal 4 and 2 miles from Terminal 3, but would be the only hotel on airport property.

Construction on the second phase of the PHX Sky Train, which includes the 24th Street Station, is underway and expected to be completed in 2022.

No tax dollars will be used for the hotel’s construction and operation, according to Patel.

“All projects are funded through airport revenues like parking and shopping, passenger facility charges and/or bonds,” Patel said.
