A NOTE FROM LGA PRESIDENT TIMOTHY SPENCER

Dear LGA Members:

I want to inform you that the LGA Board conducted a telephonic meeting on March 23 to discuss this year's Spring Conference.  Based on the current COVID-19 Pandemic, the Board has decided to cancel the Spring Conference scheduled for April 23-25, 2020 in Harrisonburg. Although we have suspected that the conference might be canceled, today was the first day that we could take action without the LGA incurring a significant penalty. The Board is currently working on an alternative solution to deliver the critical educational component of the conference. This year was a particularly active year in the General Assembly with numerous amendments to the Code of Virginia. Therefore, the Board is analyzing several solutions for providing our members with the legislative update and other CLE opportunities. We have asked Tara McGee and the Conference Committee to bring its recommendations to the Board as to which topics are most essential. We have also tasked your LGA staff to finalize the best method of delivering the CLE content to the membership. We ask that you wait two weeks to seek a refund for your LGA conference registration fees so that staff can focus on finalizing a plan to deliver the CLE training. I hope to have further details regarding this educational opportunity sometime next week.  In the meantime, stay safe.

UPDATE Lodging Information: In order to reduce calls to the front desk, the hotel reservations made by individuals will be cancelled along with the conference. You will receive a cancellation confirmation by email within the week. If you do not receive a cancellation confirmation by email, please reach out to the hotel directly.
