Press Releases - Department of Transportation

For Immediate Release: Monday, February 24, 2020

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) and Department of Permitting Services (DPS) will hold a public meeting to brief the community on and receive feedback about the new Residential EV Charging Permitting Guidelines.

An electric vehicle charging station, also called an EV charging station, supplies energy for the recharging of electric vehicles or, plug-in hybrids. An electrical permit is required prior to the installation of a residential EV charging station if there are no existing outlets (requiring wiring of a dedicated circuit).  Electrical permits must be applied for online using DPS ePermits.

The meeting will be held Wednesday, March 4, beginning at 7 p.m., in the all-purpose room/cafeteria of Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School located at 4301 East West Highway, Bethesda.
