Smoke & Fire: history and legend of the long rifle on the American frontier, 1754 - 1850. No other single object in the American experience has as much history, legend or lore associated with it. The long rifle is a truly American invention and in the forests and prairies of the expanding frontier it made its mark. Whether carried by Daniel Boone into the wilds of Kentucky, Lewis & Clark on the Corps of Discover or with William Becknell down the Santa Fe trail, these rifles shaped our country. Join MDC Regional Supervisor Brian Flowers as we explore the history and contemporary use of the long rifle. BRIAN D FLOWERS
