United Airlines passengers capture video of engine cover peeling off

Passengers aboard a United Airlines flight captured terrifying video showing a piece of one of the engines partially detaching — forcing the plane to make an emergency landing.

United Flight 293 departed from Denver about 7:50 a.m. Sunday for Orlando, but the pilots returned to the Colorado city because of the scary mishap, according to the Denver Channel.

Video shared by passenger Bobby Lewis showed a casing from the Boeing 737’s left engine peeling off and flapping in the wind.

Another passenger, Abbi Reznicek, captured similar video of the incident.

“From all the passengers of flight UA293, this was more than a ‘minor inconvenince.’ The engine malfunctioned on the Boeing 737 and this happened MID-FLIGHT.. at first I thought it was a colonial woman on the wing and there was something they weren’t telling us,” Reznicek wrote on Twitter.

The flight landed back at Denver International Airport about an hour later.

The plane “landed safely and taxied to a gate where customers deplaned normally. Customers have departed on a different aircraft to Orlando,” a United rep said in a statement to The Post.

It was unclear what caused the engine cover to peel back. No one was hurt.

A similar incident happened aboard a United plane in February 2018, when passengers shared video of an engine cowling coming off as the flight from San Francisco was at 40,000 feet, about 40 minutes away from Honolulu.
