Grand Duke Henri and Minister of the Interior Taina Bofferding visited the CGDIS centre in Mersch earlier this Friday.

The visit follows the government's announcement on 4 May that all residents aged 16 and above will receive 50 face masks free of charge.

The Grand Duke met with the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) to gain a better understanding about the logistics behind the effortful distribution.

CGDIS has been in charge of securing and distributing face masks since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Luxembourg's 102 municipalities will receive no less than 26 million masks until 15 May. Starting next week, residents will receive an official letter that contains instructions about picking up the face masks.

The government is expected to provide further details about pick-up locations soon.
