The municipality of Mamer has come up with an idea that will raise the spirits of Luxembourg's cinephiles: a drive-in cinema will allow filmaholics to enjoy a movie from the safe confines of their car.

Regular cinemas may still be closed in Luxembourg for the time being but the municipality of Mamer has come up with a solution for those who miss the big screen: a drive-in theatre will open on 14 May and accommodate avid cinemagoers until 2 August.

According to the municipality, there will be "blockbusters, classics, comedies, children's movies.... something for everyone."

There will be daily screenings from Wednesdays to Saturdays at 8.45pm, and on Sundays as well as bank holidays at 2pm, 5pm, and 8pm. The drive-in cinema will be located on the car park of Capellen's Bauhaus DIY store. An FM transmitter will power the sound and bring it into the cars of the visitors. The movies will have subtitles in French or German.

The screening schedule can be found on the website of the municipality. Tickets (15€ per car) have to be purchased online. Ticket sales kick off on 12 May.

No need to go hungry or thirsty as there will also be food-trucks.
