The role of Chief Nursing Officer will be valid from 1 June.

The Ministry of Health and the National Association of Nurses in Luxembourg (ANTIL) have released a joint statement on International Nurses Day, confirming the new role of Chief Nursing Officer from next month.

In the statement, Minister of Health Paulette Lenert took the opportunity to praise nurses and thank them for their hard work, particularly given the global crisis. Lenert highlighted the importance of personal care within the health system, where nurses are often the first point of contact for patients.

From 1 June, a Chief Nursing Officer will be appointed as a joint effort between the Ministry and ANTIL, to represent nurses within politics. The statement went on to say this would be an important step forward in recognition of the work carried out by those in the nursing profession and the vital role they play within society.

The Chief Nursing Officer will contribute to strategic decisions concerning healthcare.
