The minister of health sat down with RTL for an interview on Monday morning.

According to Lenert, most people that currently contract the coronavirus do so because they did not properly respect safety distances, a problem that often occurs at work. This makes it even more important for business leadership to be strict about the new regulations.

A slight increase in infections would not be avoidable, Lenert further explained, but the government was hopeful to dodge a veritable second wave and was doing everything to keep the country from going on lockdown again. In any case, preparations are underway to prepare for all possible outcomes.

On the much disputed issue of enforced hospitalisations, minister Lenert explained that the decision would be taken by the justice department, not the director of health. Moreover, it would only apply in exceptional cases, none having come up so far.
