Luxembourg's chief medical officer, Dr. Jean-Claude Schmit, has expressed his concern over the latest number of coronavirus infections.

44 cases were recorded on Saturday, in the highest daily rise since 21 April.

Dr. Schmit promised that the ministry would continue to keep a close eye on current developments, especially considering the recent hike in infections. He also said that the ministry would need a little more time to analyse, understand and identify any new potential cluster areas.

The Ministry of Health announced yesterday that from this weekend onwards, only figures relating to completed tests, new infections and further deaths will continue to be published every day including weekends and national holidays.

In order to relieve the hospitals of additional administerial burdens, any further details relating, for example, to tests done over the weekend, the development of current coronavirus patients or the current number of infections will be published on Mondays.
