Since 2017 the California Legislature has budgeted $1.2 billion to support Assembly Bill (AB) 617 (C. Garcia, Chapter 136, Statutes of 2017) with incentives directed by local air districts to put advanced technologies to work for cleaner air in the California communities that are most heavily impacted by disproportionate levels of air pollution.

Proposed Revised 2024 Guidelines
These draft revised Guidelines have been posted for a 30-day public comment period leading up to a virtual public workshop to discuss and finalize them on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please see the public meeting announcement for details on how to attend. Comments, suggestions, or questions may be provided at the public workshop, or they may be provided at any time directly to Community Air Protection Incentives staff.
The revisions to these Guidelines primarily include expansion of eligibility to many additional new project types, including: local agency partnerships; dial-a-ride transit vehicle replacements; community greening and vegetative barrier projects; emergency stationary diesel generator replacements; paving, sidewalk, and bike path projects; incentives for alternatives to agricultural open burning; and low dust nut harvester replacements.
