World War II Planes Returning to Airport Later This Month

Aug. 4--Area residents enthused about the arrival of a helicopter from the Vietnam War at Hazleton Regional Airport on Saturday await a fly-in from more historic aircraft.

Five planes of World War II will stop at the airport for three days later this month.

A P-51 Mustang, P-40 Warhawk, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator and B-25 Mitchell will be on display for walk-through tours and flights on the following schedule: Aug. 19, noon to 8 p.m.; Aug. 20, 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Aug. 21, 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Proceeds pay for the continuing upkeep of the aircraft, maintained by the Collings Foundation.
