While ‘window or aisle’ may be a matter of personal preference, certain destinations demand the uninterrupted view of a window seat. PrivateFly, the leading private jet booking platform, reveals the most spectacular landings in the annual Scenic Airports Poll results. The top ten global scenic airports, as voted by travel fans and experts, found Ireland’s Donegal Airport as the number one scenic landing for the second year in a row and the United States’ own Orlando Melbourne International Airport landed in the top five.
“PrivateFly’s Scenic Airports Poll re-inspires an excitement for flying by highlighting a number of global decents that just can’t be appreciated in any other way than from above. Too often travelers hurry through the journey to get to their destination; this poll encourages those to stop, take a look through their aircraft window and be awestruck by the joy of flying,” said CEO Adam Twidell of PrivateFly and an experienced pilot.
“Florida is PrivateFly’s home base in the States, so we are thrilled to see Orlando Melbourne International Airport make it to the top five most scenic landings,” added Mr. Twidell.
PrivateFly teamed up with a panel of travel experts to form the shortlist before the public vote, including travel writers Nigel Tisdall and Francesca Street and aviation experts Johnny Jet and Doug Gollan.

The most votes overall went to Ireland’s Donegal Airport on the country’s northwest Atlantic coast, which claims the number one spot for the second year.
Twidell continues: “Donegal’s rugged coastal landscapes are truly awe-inspiring as you come into land. There is simply nowhere else like it and its popularity with global travelers is clear.”
One voter commented in support of Donegal: “The view is spectacular! Mountains on one side and a beautiful rugged coastline dotted with islands and golden sandy beaches on the other.”

Taking fourth place this year is Orlando Melbourne International Airport, moving into the top five from last year’s spot in sixth place.
One voter commented on the Florida landing, “first, you see the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and then pass over the Indian and Banana Rivers. Then, there is a pass over the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, where you may get a glimpse of a rocket on a launch pad.”
