​Even with travel returning to normal with the easing of the pandemic, the Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) remains vigilant about the safety and well-being of travelers and airport employees. 


No longer in effect: Federal Vaccination Requirement for Foreign International Air Travelers 

NO LONGER IN EFFECT: Federal Vaccination Requirement for Foreign International Air Travelers
Effective May 12, 2023, foreign nationals (non-U.S. citizens, non-U.S. immigrants) traveling by air into the United States no longer need to show proof of being fully vaccinated with an accepted COVID-19 vaccine to board a flight to the United States, according to an updated U.S. federal COVID-19-related travel policy.

​COVID-19 Testing at FLL - Closed Permanently

At Noon on Saturday, December 3, 2022, the Nomi Health COVID-19 testing site in Terminal 3 at FLL closed permanently after nearly two years of serving travelers flying to/from our airport. For a list of other Florida testing sites, visit the Florida Department of Health's website:

Travel Restriction Lifted 

CDC No Longer Requires Negative COVID-19 Test for All Arriving International Passengers

Effective 12:01AM ET on June 12, 2022, CDC no longer requires air passengers traveling from a foreign country to the United States to show a negative COVID-19 viral test or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before they board their flight.

TSA Discontinues Face Mask Mandate Enforcement  

Based on guidance from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) this evening, FLL is no longer enforcing the federal face mask mandate per the federal agency's decision to rescind its Security Directives on public transportation and transportation hubs. Please note that this is a developing situation. As such, the airport is updating information on our social media and website accordingly.

​Destination-specific Restrictions

Several U.S. states/cities and international destinations had implemented travel restrictions for incoming visitors amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  As such, guests traveling to and from FLL should consult their airline and the official websites of the U.S. state/city or international destination they are planning to visit for the latest travel alerts and protocols in advance of their intended travel dates.


​​​​Broward County Aviation Department's Response to COVID-19

The Aviation Department is playing its part in planning for and mitigating potential impacts of COVID-19 at FLL and North Perry Airport (HWO), as our primary goal is the safety and well-being of our guests and employees.

FLL passengers are encouraged to check with their airline for the latest travel and flight advisories.​

Airport Parking/Shuttles: 
  • Courtesy Terminal-to-Terminal Shuttle Service: FLL's courtesy shuttle bus service that runs between the terminals is temporarily suspended until further notice due to ongoing COVID-19 impacts. To move safely between the terminals, airport passengers and visitors can use the curbside walkways or parking garage walking trail (follow ground-level directional arrows) or hop on a parking garage tram. The shuttle buses between the Rental Car Center and the terminals remain operational.   


Preventive Measures at FLL:

  • Placing hand sanitizers throughout the four terminals and Rental Car Center
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces such as handrails, elevator buttons, and door handles
  • Regular cleansing of security checkpoints and restrooms
  • Overnight deep cleaning of the security checkpoints, hold rooms, passenger boarding bridges, and other areas in the terminals
  • Supplying airport-operated passenger and employee shuttles with sanitizing wipes
  • Posting CDC preventive steps in airport restrooms on ways to help stop the spread of germs, including frequent washing of hands
  • Airport public service announcements with coronavirus preventive tips and similar messaging on terminal flight information display screens  
Ways to Protect Yourself:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often for 20 seconds
  • If soap is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

  • Stay home if you are feeling sick

  • Cover coughs and sneezes

  • Wear a face covering when out in public and interacting with others

  • Clean and disinfect hard surfaces and objects regularly household cleaning
