More than 470 flights at Denver International Airport are canceled Tuesday as snow continues to fall across Colorado.

The airport had received 7 inches as of early Tuesday morning and warned travelers of snow-packed conditions on Peña Boulevard.

The bulk of the storm was expected to accumulate Monday night, with a foot or more expected by its end Tuesday. Heavy and blowing snow will make travel difficult throughout this storm, according to the National Weather Service.

As of about 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, 477 flights into or out of DIA had been canceled for Tuesday. That means more than 54% of all cancellations at U.S. airports Tuesday involve a DIA inbound or outbound flight. Ninety-six flights have been delayed.

Major airlines are waiving flight change fees ahead of the storm. That means travelers booked on a Tuesday flight can try to get to their destinations early or choose to depart later without a fee.

Here's a quick snapshot by airline:

Tuesday flights into or out of DIA

  • Southwest: 171 flights canceled (39%)
  • United: 67 flights canceled (15%)
  • American Airlines: 6 flights canceled (9%)
  • Frontier: 30 flights canceled (24%)
