Communities Count is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Project/Program Manager II who will support community-based organizations and members to effectively use data in their work towards achieving equity.  This person will work with a variety of partners that serve diverse populations (including partners involved with Best Starts for Kids and Communities of Opportunity).  In addition, this person will also help coordinate, design, and facilitate data workshops.
 
We are looking for a team member who has strong communication skills, values creativity and innovation, and is dedicated to equity.  Individuals who have lived and/or working experience with diverse communities in King County are strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Duties

  • Communications: Independently write, review, and edit a variety of materials and products that integrate data (such as blogs, infographics, presentations, workshop and marketing materials, as well as website content).  This role requires a strong attention to detail to ensure that final content adheres to Communities Count values, style guide, and quality assurance standards.
  • Community engagement: Create and sustain collaborative relationships with diverse communities and community-based organizations throughout King County, including partners who are focused on strengthening community connections to increase equity for housing, health, and economic conditions.
  • Project organizer: Highly organized and enthusiastic planner who can motivate teams, clearly communicate and monitor team progress, coordinate tasks among team members, as well as support team member and stakeholder engagement during a project.
  • Workshops: Identify community partner needs in order to design and develop workshop(s) that focus on how to effectively communicate with data.  Coordinate with Communities Count staff to plan, develop, and implement data workshops with input and feedback from community partners.
  • Technical assistance: Work alongside Communities Count staff to provide data support and resources to community partners.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Minimum three years of experience in communications, community engagement, and project planning OR any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties of the position.
  • Demonstrate a respect for and understanding of the cultural assets, resources, needs, and challenges of diverse populations and communities throughout the county with a strong commitment to equity and social justice.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting community-based organizations in developing materials with data for non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including an ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively in a team environment, as well as with diverse stakeholders to meet project goals.
  • Ability to work under deadlines while being flexible to changing needs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based enabled tools; comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
 
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 
 
  • The selected candidate must pass a thorough background investigation.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License or the ability to travel to locations in King County that may not be served by public transportation.

  • Regular and reliable attendance, effective communication skills, and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all Public Health positions.
  • Staff may be required to play an active role in the event of a public health emergency, which may include changes in responsibilities and working hours.
