HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A plane carrying the University of Hawaii football team was turned around due to a mechanical problem Sunday morning.

The team’s official Twitter account stated the flight returned safely to San Francisco.

Hawaiian Airlines reports flight HA11 departed San Francisco International Airport (SFO) at 9:07 a.m. with service to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport.

The airline said at approximately one hour into the flight, a cockpit light indicated a possible issue with the cabin pressurization system.

The pilot decided to return the Airbus A330 aircraft to SFO, where it landed without incident about 11 a.m., the airline’s statement said.

After an inspection, it was determined that Sunday’s pressurization fault was linked to a cargo seal malfunction that had caused the cancellation of Saturday’s HA11 flight.

“Unfortunately, after the issue was resolved yesterday, it reappeared soon after today’s departure,” the statement said.

The football team was traveling back to Honolulu from Reno following 54-3 victory Saturday.
