ITU-Academia Partnership Meeting: Developing Skills for the Digital Era

​The 2nd ITU-Academia Partnership Meeting: Developing Skills for the Digital Era took place in Atlanta, United States, from 2 to 3 December 2019. The meeting was organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). The meeting was organized in conjunction with the 11th ITU Kaleidoscope Academic Conference​, which took place from 4 to 6 December 2019, in the same venue.
 
The 2nd ITU-Academia Partnership Meeting brrought together representatives from universities and higher education institutions from all over the world who have an interest in the topic of digital technologies. The event covered debates around the digital transformation and required skill sets, the role of universities in shaping the digital agenda, as well as challenges academic institutions are facing in moving towards 21st century universities. The meeting also featured an academia-industry dialogue, explored the role of universities as drivers of technology research and innovation and presented some concrete examples of those. A major objective of the event was to identify ways and means to strengthen collaboration between ITU and the academic community in developing capacities and skills for the digital future. ​
