WALKER — Industrial technology and electrical services firm Feyen Zylstra LLC plans to invest $5.3 million in a new facility in Walker.

The company is purchasing and renovating the 20,000-square-foot building at 3085 Walkent Dr. NW that will house its industrial tech employees, including automation engineers, software developers, coders and programmers. The firm estimates 100 new jobs will be created from the new location.

“As the markets and industries we serve continue to grow and evolve, we intend to lead the market by offering the most innovative solutions,” Nate Koetje, CEO of Feyen Zylstra, said in a statement.

He added the expansion will enable the company to provide “specialized technical solutions” to its customer group.

Feyen Zylstra currently has four Michigan locations, including its headquarters in the city of Walker, and other offices in Kalamazoo, Traverse City and Auburn Hills. The firm also has offices in Nashville, Tenn. and Charleston, S.C.

The Right Place Inc. assisted Feyen Zylstra in finding its additional location. According to property records, the building was owned by Genplex LLC, which purchased it in 1999 for more than $1.5 million. Financial terms of the recent deal were not disclosed.

The Michigan Economic Development Corp. in 2018 gave the company a $570,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant for the expansion, because it involved the creation of jobs.
