We are also pleased to share that starting on Tuesday, March 17, students will receive both a breakfast AND lunch meal to take home at all of our meal sites. Students do not have to present an ID to receive meals. For high school students who are in need of transportation to these sites, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation has announced that it will provide free service on all Ride On buses starting March 16.

We want to thank the many community members who have offered to volunteer and donate food and resources to support our students. We appreciate your kindness and generosity. Due to federal and state requirements for food distribution, we are connecting those interested in helping with the Montgomery County Volunteer Office of Community Partnerships. This office is coordinating countywide efforts and can be reached at 240-777-8320.

As shared in Friday's letter, learning activities and materials are now available online through myMCPS Classroom. Printed materials were also sent to schools to distribute to students. We are aware that some students that need printed packets did not receive one on Friday. We will be providing information where packets will be available for pick up this week Please Note that printed packets are intended only for students without online access at home.

All the activities that we have provided (digital and print) are meant for review and to practice information that has already been taught. Again, these activities are not required, and will not be graded.

We know that many of our families do not have access to the internet at home. Comcast has announced that effective Monday, March 16, new Internet Essentials customers will receive two free months of Internet service. You can learn more about this offer at https://www.internetessentials.com/covid19
Additional information on county food assistance, mental and emotional health support, and medical assistance can be found here and on the MCPS coronavirus webpage.

We are all in this together.  We encourage you to continue to follow the guidance of local, state and federal health officials and practice healthy habits. Thank you for your support and patience.

Sincerely,
Montgomery County Public Schools
