Comprehensive Medical Care Facility in Cuthbert

Residing in small communities, most of us are used to the occasional jaunt out of town to take advantage of services not readily available here. Medical care shouldn't be one of those services. Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center offers safe and reliable care in an atmosphere where you're treated like a neighbor and not a number.

Care When It Counts

Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center is a critical access hospital with 25 beds and a 24-hour emergency room department. We conform to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System standards as outline by the DNV.

We are also licensed for swing bed services, which bridges the gap between a hospital and home or long-term care. We offer reliable care for those ready for discharge from an acute care hospital setting, but requiring continued recuperation from illness, injury or surgery. Services include physical/occupational/speech therapy, IV medication therapy, extensive wound care therapy, pain management, nutritional therapy and recovery assistance from major surgery or joint replacement.

Transparency Statement

In 2019, the Georgia General Assembly passed HB 321, and Gov. Brian Kemp signed it into law. It requires all not-for-profit hospitals in Georgia to share certain required filings/documents about our organization. Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center (SGRMC) believes in being open and honest with our patients, and we posted the following documents to our website in accordance with the transparency law.

  • Audited Financial Reports 2018 / 2019 - Each year, an independent expert accounting firm examines SGRMC’s financial statements. The result of this examination is a report by the auditor attesting to the fairness of presentation of the financial statements and related disclosures.
  •  IRS 990 Proxy 2018 / 2019 - As a Hospital Authority governed entity, SGMRC is not required to file the Form 990 with the Internal Revenue Service. As a substitution for this filing, the Georgia Department of Community Health has published a proxy form for submission of financial data.
  • Annual Hospital Questionnaire 2018 / 2019 Each year, SGRMC files this document with the Georgia Department of Community Health. It includes very detailed information on a wide range of topics including hospital ownership and management, services provided, patient demographics and staffing data.
  • DSH Survey 2017 / 2018  Medicaid programs make Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payments to qualifying hospitals that serve large numbers of Medicaid and uninsured individuals. A DSH Survey includes information to ensure a hospital qualifies to receive those DSH payments.
  • Real Property List 2018 / 2019 This includes information such as location, purchase price and current use of every property owned by the hospital.
  • Bond Debt 2018 / 2019 This is a listing of debt, including outstanding principal and description of debt usage.
  • Legal Chart 2018 / 2019  This document lists the legal corporate structure of SGRMC.
  • Compensation/Benefits Report 2018 / 2019  This chart lists the base compensation, bonuses/incentives, and other compensation to SGRMC’s top 10 non-clinical positions.
    • For contracted positions provided through a management agreement, the full compensation for those individuals is listed, however, SGRMC pays only a portion of the reported dollars.
  • Accreditations 2018 / 2019  SGRMC is surveyed annually by DNV GL Healthcare USA, Inc. DNV GL is an international accredited registrar and classification society which is the global leader in certifying management systems across all types of industries, including healthcare. The organization assures SGRMC complies with all requirements of the National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (NIAHO) Hospital Accreditation Program through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
  • Charity Care & Financial Assistance Policies 2018 / 2019  SGRMC is committed to fulfilling its charitable mission by providing high quality medical care to all patients in our service areas, regardless of their financial situation. We provide financial assistance for patients who are uninsured, under-insured, ineligible for government programs and otherwise unable to pay for medically necessary care based on their individual financial situation in accordance with federal poverty guidelines.
