Okemos Outback Steakhouse brings sensory kits to restaurant
An Outback Steakhouse right here in mid-Michigan is making sure everyone is able to come in and enjoy a meal.
The Okemos Outback Steakhouse Manager Derick Zanger and his fiance Serena said they saw sensory kits being used at restaurants in California, which made them decide to bring the kits back here to Michigan.
After a few months of preparation, they are ready to use.
Inside each kit includes noise cancelling headphones, toys for mental stimulation and menus with pictures so people who are unable to speak can order for themselves.
"We want it to be inclusive for everybody. I would love to have every restaurant have one of these just to promote and make sure everyone has a great time," Zanger said.
Zanger said there are kits at all of the Outbacks in this area.
In order to get one, all you have to do is ask.
