About: The King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) is pleased to release this Request for Proposal for Reentry Spanning Supports with funding from the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services (VSHSL) and guidance from the VSHSL Implementation Plan.

This request seeks an entity or entities to help implement VSHSL Strategy SE1C -- to provide community-based services that support the reentry of formerly incarcerated persons in King County. Services provided are intended to help mitigate the consequences of incarceration, in order to reduce the long-term negative effects of system involvement on reentering individuals. This program shall aim to provide equitable access to funded services in convenient locations to formerly incarcerated persons and their family members living throughout King County.

Available Funding: Up to $1,165,000 in veterans funding through the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy funds

This request is open to nonprofit organizations and community-based organizations serving Black communities in King County. Small nonprofits and Black-led community-based organizations are encouraged to submit proposals. This RFP intends to fund Black-led re-entry initiatives conceived by and intended for community members who have lived expereience with reentry. 

Eligible applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working within Black communities
  • Demonstrated experience working with formerly incarcerated individuals within Black communities
  • Record of Black leadership within applicant’s organization
  • Work with, or demonstrate a willingness to build the capacity to work with, program participants throughout King County.
  • Submit an application within the scope of work outlined in Section II.C., STRATEGY: The Request, of this application
