MCDOT Promotes Alternative Transportation on Car Free Day

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 24, 2019

MCDOT staff greeted riders at Bethesda, Friendship Heights, Shady Grove, Silver Spring and White Flint Metro stations, the Germantown Transit and Lakeforest Mall Transit Centers and Montgomery College's Rockville Campus bus stop last Friday to thank Montgomery County transit users and ask for participation in Car Free Day on Friday, September 20.

Staff passed out over 2,600 bags with giveaways and chances to win prizes for pledging to go car free. This worldwide yearly event encourages environmentally friendly travel methods like biking, taking a bus or train, ridesharing or walking. Using sustainable travel methods reduces greenhouse gas emissions and traffic congestion. Learn more about alternative transit options through MCDOT.

MCDOT’s mobile van visited the Lakeforest Transit Center where staff greeted riders with giveaways.
