PCAR partners with a network of rape crisis center programs to bring help, hope and healing around issues of sexual violence to all 67 counties in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. All programs provide, at a minimum, basic services to victims/survivors of sexual violence, rape and incest including:

  • Free and confidential crisis counseling 24 hours a day (Some exceptions apply due to mandated reporter requirements)
  • Prevention education programs to schools, organizations and other public groups
  • Services for the victim’s family, friends, partners or spouses
  • Information and referrals to other services in your area

Advocates from rape crisis centers are available to accompany victims of sexual violence, rape or incest to the hospital or to other medical facilities, to the police station, and to court. Rape crisis center advocates understand the many ways sexual assault can impact a person and their family, and are there to provide support and information so that survivors may make informed critical decisions.

Advocates may also intervene or act on behalf of the survivor’s wishes or needs, and assist in navigating the processes within the medical, police and court systems.
